Hi ROHR2
How do I enter the weight of the bolts for a flange connections. In the flange window I can only see the weight of the flange itselft. Sometimes the weight of the bolts can be significant.
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Weight of the bolts in a Flange connection
Dear Rohr2user
There is currently no extra input field for the bolt mass of the flanges. In most cases the bolt weights are not specified in the design data.
We currently add the flange weight to the line weight in ROHR2 (as if the underlying pipe was not removed when welding the flange).
This give a small additional weight which pretty much compensates for the missing mass of the bolts.
This does not require additional input and has proven to be an acceptable solution in most cases.
If you want to go the extra mile to get the weight exactly right you could:
- make a detailed mass calculation (including bolts, nuts, washers, gasket and additional insulation weight etc)
- calculate the weight of the pipe removed by the flange
- calculate the difference and set this as Mass manually in a "user defined" flange.
Best regards
