Diferent allowable stresses for the same pipe

Good Afternoon,

I was checking my results and saw that the allowable stresses for the expansion load case is varying along the pipe. Some were considered as 86.4 while others 206.4MPa. I also found that the values considered as Allowables for the material SA672 B60 at temperature 70ºC was rather low 86.4MPa. Do you have any idea why this is hapenning?

Thank you for the help.

Hi

Could you be a bit more specific about what kind of stress-analysis you are performing?

Reasons for different allowable stresses could be:
  • different materials
  • different design temperatures
  • different wall thickness
  • different results for SL equation for stress analysis with liberal stress SE
...

You should be able to see the parameters used in the node window:

Best regards

I found out what the problem was. I was setting the reduction of allowable stresses at low temperatures! After I removed this selection the allowable went back to what I expected.
Thank you again for the help.
