Guided vs Sliding Supports

Dear ROHR2 Support,
1) I would kindly ask for information please.
Please find attached results of simulation.
I included drawings of guided and sliding support as well.
I considered 2 cases where pipeline is with guided and sliding supports.
Sliding support behave as expected i.e. allow both axial and lateral movements. Movement in Z direction is zero.
In contrast, guided support should allow axial movement only. No movements in lateral direction or vertical. This is not the case here as turns out that pipe will move in vertical direction (Z).
Please advise.

Thank you.

Dear User,

you always have to choose all the boundary conditions you want to consider in the calculation. In your case you selected "guide", but not "sliding support", so the program only will consider a guide and not a support in vertical direction. You always should check the wanted boundary conditions under the section "components":

Much appreciated.
What is the difference between Wx,Wy,Wz and Px,Py,Pz?

Hi,

the Wx, Wy and Wz are the displacements and the Px, Py and Pz the rotations.
